Are Teslas Expensive To Maintain
Tesla cars are fully electric and your standard maintenance routine flies out the window. That being said, Teslaâs maintenance costs are some of the lowest in the market making it a good investment. The traditional car needs an oil change, specialized care, standard maintenance, repairs, and expensive extended car warranties.
However, you still have a few moving parts that may require your attention such as the full service, cabin air filter, tire rotation, brake fluids flush, air conditioning services, and winter care. Generally, it would cost you a total of $1,490 in five years. This means you would most likely spend about $298 per year on average.
Do Tesla Cars Hold Their Value
Yes, Tesla vehicles hold their value remarkably well. One obvious reason for the reduced depreciation is the quality and longevity of Tesla vehicles, which can last more than twice as long as competing automobiles.
Additionally, the publicâs unquenchable demand for Tesla vehicles extends to the used market as well. People just canât get enoughâand there arenât enough cars to go around.
Despite how many factories Tesla has been constructing, demand keeps increasing, and charging stations are more accessible than ever.

That being said, prices have continued to rise in recent years. Heres where Tesla prices currently sit in 2022.
Why Is The Tesla Model 3 Cheaper
The Tesla Model 3 is not a cheap carâmake no mistake about it. Itâs a $40,000 sedan that you can option-out well past $50,000. But compared to the Tesla Model S, which starts at just shy of $70,000, itâs much more affordable.
The $40,000 price for the Model 3, considering that you get a top-quality all-wheel-drive electric car that can literally drive itself, is remarkably lowâeven though itâs not cheap compared to other cars.
Whatâs even more remarkable is how much much cheaper the Model 3 is compared to the Model S and other Tesla vehicles. So why is the Model 3 about half the price of an optioned-out and similarly-sized Model S?
For one, the Model 3 has fewer parts and features. The Model S is a luxury vehicle with bells and whistles like automatic door handles. Additionally, the Model 3 has less range and fewer costly batteries, and the amount of expensive material needed to produce them is lower.
Additionally, the Tesla Model S has better performance than the Model 3. The base Tesla Model S has between 670 horsepower and a jaw-dropping 1,020 horsepower, whereas the Model 3 has a measly 480 horsepower.

Tesla Hatchback: Design And Features
We havent seen any design specs or illustrations of the Tesla hatchback, which seems to have been deliberate. That said, a hatchback is a very particular design, so we should expect some sort of Tesla-ified vehicle that looks like a blend between a Tesla Model Y and something like a Nissan Leaf or VW ID.3.
Its also fair to assume that most of the traditional Tesla features will be available in the new hatchback, including the companys infotainment system, access to the supercharger network and more.
What we definitely know is that the car will have some form of Autopilot involved, with Elon Musk promising the vehicle would be fully autonomous.” We seriously doubt that it will have Level 5 autonomy, wherein the car does all of the work and theres no need for an attentive human in the driver’s seat.
Our guess is that Teslas Full Self Driving Autopilot will be available, enabling the car to navigate itself on highways and possibly even city streets. Provided theres an attentive human behind the wheel, ready to take over at a moments notice.

Tesla Launches Cheaper Model Y In Europe
Tesla has launched the Model Y Rear-Wheel-Drive Standard Range in Europe, and it is surprisingly cheap.
It looks like Tesla has decided to bring the elusive Model Y Standard Range with rear-wheel drive to Europe.
Today, in an update to its online configurator, Tesla has made a new base version of the Model Y available for sale in many European markets.
The new version of the Model Y is listed as Rear-Wheel-Drive and features a WLTP range of 455 km compared to the already available Long Ranges 533 km range.
The top speed is the same at 217 km/h, but the 0-100 km/h is much slower at 6.9 seconds.
Where the vehicle really shines is with its price. For example, in the Netherlands, it starts at just 50,000 16,000 less than the Long Range version:
That includes VAT of approximately 8,850, and therefore, it starts at about 42,000, and the euro is currently about the same value as the US dollar.
If that vehicle were sold in the US, it would be about $20,000 cheaper than the current cheapest configuration of the Model Y in the US.
In some European markets, this new version of the Model Y is now cheaper than a base Model 3.
Tesla lists the new version of the Model Y in Europe as available from December 2022February 2023.
The latter is more likely, but there have also been interesting rumors lately about Tesla getting new LFP battery cells from BYD at Gigafactory Berlin to produce a cheaper Model Y.
Does The Government Subsidize Tesla Cars
Tesla cars are all-electric, and the company has never produced gasoline or diesel-powered cars. Over the last decade or two, the Federal Government has offered numerous taxpayer-funded incentives to automakers who produce clean cars.
Over the years, Elon Musk and his companies have received an astounding five billion dollars from the Federal Government. Thatâs in addition to the incentives offered to consumers to purchase electric cars.
If you buy an electric car in the United States, specifically a Tesla, you can ask the Federal Government for a generous $7,500 tax credit towards your income taxes that year. Additionally, if you live in California, you can receive up to $5,000 more in state tax credits to purchase an electric car.

Tax Credit For Teslas

For Tesla cars to qualify for the full $7,500 tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act, the company must eventually abide by sourcing requirements for batteries. Minerals and other components used to make EV batteries must primarily come from North America.
The federal tax credit of up to $7,500 for electric and hybrid vehicles was phased for some models that reached certain sales thresholds. Under the Inflation Reduction Act, those models now qualify, however now more expensive models do not. Buyers must meet certain income limits as well.
The $7,500 tax credit applies to new vehicles. Used vehicles may receive a tax credit of up to $4,000 or 30% of the sales price, whichever is less. More expensive electric vehicles, such as the Model X and Model S do not qualify for a tax credit. Sedans may cost no more than $55,000 and trucks and SUVs may cost no more than $80,000 to qualify.
Finally, you must meet income requirements to receive the tax credit. You can’t earn a modified adjusted gross income above $150,000 as a single filer, $225,000 if you’re filing as head of household, or $300,000 for those filing jointly.

Why Tesla Stock Is Suddenly Dirt Cheap
Teslas stock price is set to drop when Wall Street sounds the opening bell today. But this time it’s not due to Elon Musk tweeting about the demand for electric vehicles, full self-driving features, SpaceX, silly memes, or his legal battle with Twitter. It’s because the electric car company completed its 3-for-1 stock split which means one share now costs a third of what it did a day ago. As a result, the EV company closed around $891 on Wednesday, CNN Business reports. That means the stock was trading a little under $300 early Thursday.
