The Performance Model Y comes out to about $0.041 per mile, or $4.08 for 100 miles.

Tesla Opening New Manufacturing Facility In Markham Ontario
Mayor Frank Scarpitti has announced that Tesla is expanding their presence in Canada and will be opening a manufacturing facility in Markham, Ontario.
The announcement was first made in a July 2021 edition of the Mayors Review posted to the citys website. In it, Mayor Scarpitti says the new facility will be the first Tesla branded manufacturing facility in the country.
According to the mayor, who reposted the announcement to his Twitter and Instragram accounts today, the new facility will produce state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment that will be used to produce batteries at the companys Gigafactories.
Details are scarce about the new facility, but on Twitter the mayor said it will be located in an industrial area South of Hwy 7 and west of Warden.

Tesla already has a facility in this area at 95 Clegg Rd, which has office space and a large warehouse area at the rear of the building.
The new facility is likely related to Teslas 2019 acquisition of Hibar. The company is based in nearby Richmond Hill, and builds equipment used in battery manufacturing.
UPDATE November 5, 4:55pm PST: Mayor Scarpitti has now confirmed Teslas new facility is already up and running.
The mayors announcement comes just a few days after Tesla published a new video on LinkedIn, highlighting their R& D, Charging, and Manufacturing teams.

This Is A Possibility In 2023 But There Is No Real Evidence
The upcoming new Tesla electric vehicles or new versions of existing models are always hot topics and the Model Y is not an exception.
According to Teslarati, Tesla is preparing a new, entry-level Model Y version for the 2023 model year – a “Standard Range” All-Wheel Drive configuration, powered by 4680-type cylindrical battery cells, and produced in Texas.
This speculation is based on the recently received approval by the Environmental Protection Agency for three 2023 Model Y versions:
- Model Y Long Range All-Wheel-Drive
- Model Y Performance All-Wheel-Drive
- Model Y All-Wheel-Drive
Last month, Tesla also received Certificates of Conformity for several Model 3, Model X and Model S models.
We are skeptical whether this is a sign of a new “Standard Range” version of the Model Y, or rather just a sign of a new 2023 model year of the existing 4680-powered Tesla Model Y from Texas, which is very comparable to the 2170-powered Model Y Long Range AWD from California.
We first discovered the Tesla Model Y AWD in the EPA’s database in March 2022 and as it turned out later, it was the new version, equipped with 4680-type batteries, rated at 279 miles of range. This version has not yet appeared in the Tesla online design studio, but was offered to employees or appeared in Tesla’s existing inventory at a relatively small scale .
For reference, the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD offers up to 330 miles of EPA range, so those two types are really close to each other.

History Of The Model Y
Even before the Model 3 made its official debut, Tesla and CEO Elon Musk were already teasing some early versions of the Model Y and its Falcon-Wing doors.
After several years of teasing the public, complete with vague references and silhouette images during shareholder meetings, Tesla finally announced its newest EV, the Model Y, on March 14, 2019.
Production began the following December at Teslas Fremont factory, and by March of 2020, the first Model Ys began delivering to customers.
