Tesla Opening New Manufacturing Facility In Markham Ontario
Mayor Frank Scarpitti has announced that Tesla is expanding their presence in Canada and will be opening a manufacturing facility in Markham, Ontario.
The announcement was first made in a July 2021 edition of the Mayors Review posted to the citys website. In it, Mayor Scarpitti says the new facility will be the first Tesla branded manufacturing facility in the country.
According to the mayor, who reposted the announcement to his Twitter and Instragram accounts today, the new facility will produce state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment that will be used to produce batteries at the companys Gigafactories.
Details are scarce about the new facility, but on Twitter the mayor said it will be located in an industrial area South of Hwy 7 and west of Warden.

Tesla already has a facility in this area at 95 Clegg Rd, which has office space and a large warehouse area at the rear of the building.
The new facility is likely related to Teslas 2019 acquisition of Hibar. The company is based in nearby Richmond Hill, and builds equipment used in battery manufacturing.
UPDATE November 5, 4:55pm PST: Mayor Scarpitti has now confirmed Teslas new facility is already up and running.
The mayors announcement comes just a few days after Tesla published a new video on LinkedIn, highlighting their R& D, Charging, and Manufacturing teams.

A Passion For Building
During his college days, CJ was commuting throughout Long Beach in a BMW 328i when he began tinkering with modifications and soon realized he had a passion for customizing. That car would soon get traded up to an E36 M3 fitted with an Active Autowerke supercharger kit, then later a Technique Tuning turbo kit in route to building a very complete and competitive show-level M3.
The M3 build would last for a few years, but the industry shift to electrification caught CJ’s eye and wanting to get in early on the EV wave, he picked up this Model 3. He adds, “From the start, the vision was to build a full-blown show car and over the next two years, the mods started to pile on quickly.”
There’s a good chance that if you’ve spotted a Tesla on the road with even the slightest modification, it’s likely wrapped in matte black vinyl . Going the opposite direction, CJ opted for TinyBot’s Gloss Laser Slip Snowstorm Blue. The long name can be somewhat described as light blue that seems to capture and modify any sort of light that shines along its surface, giving off a sort of rainbow effect, depending on how it’s viewed.

Adro Has Entered The Chat
There are complete aero makeovers, lip kits, and even widebody options for the Tesla Model 3, but none carry the sort of research and precision that ADRO’s prepreg carbon fiber ensemble do. If you’re at all versed in the KDM aftermarket then you know of ADRO. What started as Dongwan Yoo and Sean Yoon meeting and sharing an interest in performance and racecar aesthetic, quickly led to the duo fabricating custom aero pieces together as a hobby. With demand for their bespoke creations increasing, they co-founded ADRO in 2020 and opened their product line to include other vehicle types, including Tesla.
ADRO’s CEO, Dongwan Yoo has more than 15 years of experience with tuning carbon fiber aero. You might recall Hyundai’s RM15 concept that made quite a bit of noise with its Frankfurt Motor Show debut in its race N branded livery atop CFRP panels. That was a project that Yoo took on, creating its one-off carbon fiber body kit.
Chief Technology Officer Sean Yoon has a Masters in Racecar Aerodynamics from Southampton University, and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from KAIST University. He was poised to join Ferrari’s F1 efforts as their aerodynamicist prior to the Lehman Brothers’ collapse and instead has worked with tech giants like LG Electronics as well as helping to pioneer automatic content recognition technology, before recently aligning himself with his automotive passion by leading ADRO’s aerodynamics team.

This Heavily Modified Tesla Model 3 Is No Carbon Copy
ADRO puts the finishing carbon fiber touches on a one-of-a-kind Tesla project.
Whether or not you’re on board with the EV movement that’s all but taken over the automotive news space in recent years, things are changing, and changing quickly. What was once considered the alternative is inching its way toward becoming the standard. For CJ Cardinalli, the jump from gasoline to electric power was one that he happily made without any hesitation back in 2018 when he got his hands on this Tesla Model 3.
Carbon Fiber Front Spoiler For Tesla Model 3
The front spoiler is designed to reduce the amount of air going under the nose. A nice bi-product is that it also directs air up into the radiator. Additional cooling under significant spirited driving is helpful on the EV/Tesla. We found roughly 1 second in lap time improvement in this design.
We made these for a customer running in the Time Attack Global race event held at Buttonwillow, CA. The results we very positive dropping seconds off the lap times as a consequence of high speed stability.
Details: We use plain weave Toray carbon fiber 3k TOE, 200gsm dry. This is woven by Composite Fabrics of America in Taylorsville, NC. We also use a layer of fiberglass in the middle for impact or damage stability. We use polyester resins & clear gel coat for Marine applications to address the UV stability. NOTE: We have made epoxy parts for years.
Many will argue that epoxy is the only true quality product. I would have agreed PRIOR to this project. These parts see the daylight and sun year round. Very few products do well in the sunlight even with UV stabilizers. We have found the down side to epoxy is they dont work well in the sun and with paints. Everyone says using Polyurethane paints over epoxy are the way to go. These statements are WAY to general and in our experience, not 100% accurate. While many people may wrinkle their noses at the polyester, we are rolling with it and believe this is the best material for the application.
