Features With Tesla Seven

7 Seater Tesla Model Y 3rd Row Hands On!

While the included five-seat interior layout of the Model Y includes two front seats and three folding rear seats, the seven-seat option adds a third row with two more folding seats. This means the full cargo length and width are the same with either option, although the standard configuration will have a deeper cargo space. With the optional third row, additional USB-C charging is available. Extra charging ports are a nice convenience and eliminate the hassle of long USB cables trailing around the interior, but they dont add much real value.

More important is the upgrade to sliding second-row seats, with adjustable seat-backs. The standard two-row option has adjustable backs for the rear seats, but they dont allow sliding. Perhaps, this will offer more legroom in the third row. Until more details are released or hands-on reviews are available, this is just speculation. With the third-row seating adding $3,000 to the cost, the total starting price becomes $44,990. The Model Y compares well price-wise to mid to high-end SUVs from traditional car manufacturers but adds the allure of the Tesla brand with its ever-improving cars that are while also saving money and not contributing to climate change with every drive due to the electric motor.

Tesla Y Cost Of Ownership

When you look at the price tags, however, keep in mind that with the Tesla, you say bye-bye to the gas pump and adopt totally electric transportation.

Not only will you be saving gas money, you do a bit to help alleviate some of the damages of fossil fuels to our environment.

While you compare prices, be sure you understand that it isnt free to run a Tesla. Electricity doesnt grow on trees! And, those Tesla Superchargers are not free either.

Tesla markets that the Tesla Y runs for up to 320 miles per charge while the Tesla X runs for up to 340 per charge.

However, my husband and I have had the opportunity to interview a Y owner whose only complaint about his ownership of the Y was that the charge was more in the 250 range than the 300 range. Further, when we test drove the Y , it was fully charged and estimated that we had less than 260 miles to the next recharge.

Regardless, paying only about $6.00 for 250 miles of charge is a lot more appealing than the cost of gas, and it will be a substantial cost savings over the life of the vehicle. This is especially true if you plan on using the vehicle for daily commutes and short trips that allow you to fully charge the Tesla prior to needing to drive it again.

The cost savings doesnt even consider that Teslas cost of maintenance is far lower than other competing models. No oil to change, no gas to buy the pros list gets longer and longer!

Superior Route Planning And Convenience

What Tesla continues to do best is the ease of use on longer routes. This factor can be decisive for those who do not constantly think about charging curves and kilowatt-hours. No electric car makes touring as easy and reliable as a Tesla.

Because its so nice, heres the description again: Enter your destination. You can also use voice control. The navigation system doesnt ask for three confirmations like some of its competitors . Instead, it quickly calculates the route. It shows Superchargers along the way, and it predicts the State of Charge upon arrival and the necessary waiting time with high precision. It goes without saying that the battery is automatically pre-conditioned in favour of high charging power even if the up to 250 kW advertised in the press release were not even remotely achieved at a low SOC the maximum was 150 kW.

In all other respects, the Tesla Model Y is an electric car that struggles to stand out from the competition positively. Only the immense thrust at Maximum range it takes five seconds to reach 100 km/h is reminiscent of the early days of e-mobility, when social media channels were flooded with videos of Tesla drivers who were left with nothing but an aaargh or squeaky sound in a ludicrous drag race at the traffic lights. The rest is average or even less.

Cost To Charge At A Tesla Supercharger

Currently, the average commercial cost of electricity in the US is $0.11 per kWh. Accounting for 95% charging efficiency, it will cost a Tesla Model Y owner roughly $8.68 to charge on a Supercharger or DCFC equivalent.

In terms of mileage, the Long Range Model Y costs approximately $0.027 per mile or $2.66 per 100 miles. The Performance Model Y costs about $0.029 per mile and $2.87 for 100 miles of range.

Q: How Big Is The Boot In A Tesla Model Y

A: Bloody huge. If you want some numbers, it is 2,158 litres in total with the seats down and including the 117-litre front trunk and an under-boot-floor storage area. The rear luggage compartment alone is 854-litres with the seats in place. For comparison, the biggest Volvo estate has 560-litres with the seats up and 1,526 with them folded down.

Moderate Ride Comfort Unfortunate Set

Unfortunately, it has to be said that the overall comfort is moderate. Anyone who last sat in a new car in 2005 or even came from a diesel passenger car will find the Model Y pleasantly quiet. However, compared to a Volkswagen ID.4 or a BMW iX3, it scores worse in noise insulation. Both the wind and the work of the chassis are louder.

The chassis, in general, is not coherent. The Model Y makes a handy impression because of the small steering wheel and the direct steering ratio. But it is too heavy for fast cornering. And the suspension is too hard. Even with 19-inch winter tyres, the ride feels wooden. Moreover, the Model Y is underdamped and seems imprecise at speeds above 130 km/h , which has become the average speed on parts of the motorways in Germany. This impairs the feeling of safety. All in all, this Tesla is neither a comfort-oriented cruiser which would suit it by nature nor a dynamic sports car. Perhaps Tesla has saved too much on the hardware the Model Y does not have a complex and expensive multi-link rear axle like a Polestar or BMW.

The need to save money shines through in many places. For example, why do Tesla owners have to order a sunshade for the panoramic roof from the brand shop or accessory traders? And even if the choice of materials and quality of workmanship is essentially good: Here, not only classic premium brands like Audi or Mercedes are superior.

Cargo Space And Passenger Room

Tesla Model Y 7 Seater Review… Will an Adult Fit?

The Model Ys seating arrangement is designed differently than other vehicles. The cars front seats are built on top of a riser thats constructed into the frame. The added height gives both driver and front passenger a view of the road thats much higher than other vehicles. The increased seat height also allows for easier entry and exit into the front seats.

The additional headroom on the Model Y also gives the driver and front passenger an SUV-like experience. Critics and drivers have also lauded the cars vegan leather seating material, a synthetic leather thats very similar to the real thing in terms of touch and comfort.

The vehicle has a luggage capacity of 30.2 cubic feet with all seats occupied, and a maximum cargo capacity of 76.2 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The space is more than enough for families traveling with vacation luggage and sports equipment. The expanded cargo capacity with all rear seats folded, meanwhile, is ideal for moves and other large hauls.

The rear location of the 7-seater Tesla Model Ys dual-motor powertrain provides even more cargo functionality, since the front hood is freed to be a frunk, or front trunk.

The cars seven-seat configuration is offered in a 2-3-2 arrangement, with both the second row and optional third row capable of folding down to create more storage space.

Tesla Model Y Standard Range: 244 Miles $43190 Base 7

The Tesla Model Y electric crossover is getting a new entry-level variant. This week Tesla added the rear-wheel drive Model Y Standard Range variant to its online configurator.

The Standard Range has a $43,190 base price , compared to $51,190 for the Long Range variant and $61,190 for the Performanceboth of which feature dual-motor all-wheel drive.

Range is estimated at 244 miles, a big step down from the all-wheel drive variants, both of which boast more than 300 miles of EPA-estimated range.

Tesla also quoted zero to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, and a top speed of 135 mph. The Standard Range also gets the same 3,500-pound tow rating as other Model Y variants, when equipped with the optional hitch.

A three-row, seven-seat configuration is also available for an extra $3,000. The Standard Range gets 19-inch “Gemini” wheels as standard equipment, but buyers can get 20-inch “Induction” wheels for $2,000 more.

Tesla Model Y Standard Range

As with other Tesla electric cars, basic Autopilot is standard, while the more advanced Full Self-Driving system is a $10,000 option.

In our first drive of the Model Y, we were impressed by the crossover’s acceleration and how it sacrificed little of the related Model 3 sedan’s sporty handling. That earned the Model Y a Green Car Reports’ Best Car To Buy 2021 finalist slot. We’ll have to see how the lower-priced Standard Range version measures up.

The Tesla Y 7 Seater Test Drive Mom Review

We set up our touchless Tesla test drive with our nearest Tesla retailer.

Much like the vehicles themselves, Tesla dealerships are sleek innovative machines. Unlike a dealership where you are swarmed at the lot by a crowd of eager sales folks, our experience at Tesla began online.

Tesla has a contactless test drive system where you can register for a vehicle, upload your drivers license, and schedule your arrival time. This made finding an available vehicle and time slot for the test extremely convenient.

Book your contactless test drive here.

We arrived shortly before our arrival window and were wisked off to a waiting room with a kids section, wi-fi, and comfy seating. Our toddler quickly found the Elon Musk books in the childrens area while my husband and I looked through interior colors, exterior styles, and models.

To be completely honest, before the test drive I was nearly sold. I loved the idea of a family vehicle that does its part to reduce emissions and cuts down on gas costs.

However, after we spent a good 30 minutes in the waiting room with a toddler, I was losing faith in Tesla having a family vehicle. Wrestling a toddler in a busy car dealership is not my idea of a fun day, but we managed with snacks and screens.

Trim Pricing And Interior Specs

Tesla starts production of 7

There are two Model Ys produced by Tesla: the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Tesla Model Y Long Range. The Tesla Model Y Performance does not feature a third row option.

The Tesla Model Y Long Range with 7 seats has a starting MSRP of $61,990 before rebates and incentives. While Tesla vehicles are no longer eligible for federal tax rebates due to their volume of sales, new Teslas still qualify for state-based rebate and tax incentive programs for all-electric vehicles.

The interior of Tesla vehicles has gained a lot of widespread critical acclaim for their comfort and advanced technology, and the Tesla Model Y Long Range is no exception. In addition to offering heated front and rear seats , the vehicle features several luxury-class amenities.

The Model Y Long Range comes with a tinted glass roof with ultraviolet and infrared protection that offers impressive skyward views and natural light throughout the cabin, as well as a dynamic climate control system with HEPA air filtration system to keep out fumes from gas-powered vehicles.

Lastly, the cars premium audio system features 13 speakers and a subwoofer for fully immersive, high-quality sound throughout the cabin. Both music and temperature controls are all accessible through the vehicles expansive 15-inch touchscreen.

Anyone know why the MYP 7 seater has not been an option?Anyone know when it will be an option?I have a 7 seat MYLR order coming up for delivery, June 18th to July 16th which I can still edit the design of and has a $6k price discount. I’d seriously consider changing this to a MYP if the 7 seat option was available.

The second row seats can slide, so you can increase your trunk size while still having rear passengers, and I belive you can adjust the inclination of the back seat. The third row when folded doesn’t take space when folded and the location occupied by the seats when folded was not realy easy to access anyway.

Ev Motor Power And Performance

The Model Y lineup no longer includes a Standard Range cost-leader trim. No loss there the Model Y’s Long Range and Performance models are more compelling than a Standard Range trim anyway. Thanks to a generous Car and Driver reader, we were able to test an all-wheel-drive Long Range, which zipped from zero-to-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, a mere 0.4 second behind our long-term Model 3 sedan. The Performance model delivered an even quicker 3.6-second blast to 60 mph in our testing. While the Model Y offers impressive acceleration, it doesn’t deliver the same level of driving satisfaction as the Model 3. The SUV body creates a higher center of gravity, which dulls the sharp edge of the Model 3’s handling, and the Y’s ride is considerably rougher over road imperfections as well.

Car Seats And The Third Row

Now add a car seat. Even with our sons backed booster, not to mention a rear-facing infant seat, we could not figure out a method where all three rows were usable without knees and feet pressed up against the seats in front of them.

But, this wasnt a complete deal breaker.

For lower long-term ownership costs and a reduction in our carbon footprint, we might have been able to handle being tight on space IF that were the only problem.
