Interior Comfort And Cargo
Dig modern architecture? You’ll probably like the Velar’s simple interior, rendered largely from horizontal lines and bold rectilinear forms. Oh, and the materials used throughout are high quality and deployed in interesting ways. Take the door trim: Instead of using a spear of wood or carbon fiber inlaid into the upper part of the door panels, Land Rover adds the owner’s choice of wood or metal into the section of the door between the upper and lower panels. Our test vehicle featured aluminum trim, and every Velar has excellent detailing throughout. The Velar’s generally boxy shape and visually pleasing rear overhangbodywork that extends behind the rear wheelscombine to swallow more carry-on suitcases than its immediate competitors with its rear seats up or folded. We fit 10 of our carry-ons behind the rear seats and 23 with all seats folded.

Offering a smooth and refined drive, the P400e also provides an even calmer experience inside thanks to the addition of Active Road Noise Cancellation, which constantly monitors vibrations from the road surface and calculates the opposite phase sound wave needed to remove the noise heard by everyone within the vehicle.
The plug-in electric hybrid avant-garde Range Rover is a delight to drive and the vehicle’s aesthetics are equally as pleasing. If you would like to arrange a test drive, please contact your nearest Stratstone Land Rover retailer.

The big news for the 2021 Range Rover Velar is the announcement of a new hybrid model. This P400e comes with the same hybrid system as the recently revealed Land Rover Defender plug-in hybrid and combines a 300hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 143hp electric motor to produce a total of 404hp.
Youll be able to drive for around 33 miles using just battery power.
The Range Rover Velar plug-in hybrids 17.1kW underfloor battery pack holds enough charge to drive the new model for 33 miles by itself and can be recharged from 0% to 80% full in half an hour using a 50kW public fast charger. Charging using a 7kW wall charger will take one hour and 40 minutes.
The 2021 Velar is also available with a pair of new 3.0-litre engines.

After a week-long test involving mixed driving, but with our typical mix of around 80% of long journeys and 20% around town, we were averaging 28-31 miles of electric range, and 49.8mpg which is good for a two-tonne luxury off-roader. As expected, the Velar with its 4-cylinder, 2-litre petrol engine was more economical at motorway speeds than the Evoque with its smaller 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine, delivering 45.3mpg at 70mph.

Range Rover Velar P400e Driving Experience
Starting with the basics, you can get a good driving position in the Velar which is something that you cant always say about SUVs.
Driving around town in electric mode is a very refined experience. If you then head out on some more interesting roads youll soon discover that the Velar does an amazing job of combining a really comfortable ride and excellent handling for a car of this size and weight. A factor in this is likely to be the £1,755 option of the Dynamic Handling Pack consisting of Terrain Response 2 with Dynamic Programme, All Terrain Progress Control , Electronic Air Suspension, Adaptive Dynamics and Configurable Dynamics. All this results in a very good body control compared to a full-fat Range Rover. And if you head from country roads to the motorway, the Velar is a very luxurious way to travel.
You can select S mode on the transmission and Dynamic drive mode, and the result is impressive performance. The 4-cylinder, 2-litre petrol engine in the Velar PHEV is in contrast to the smaller 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine in the Evoque PHEV. The Velars total system power is 404 HP, total system torque is 640 Nm, and the 0-62 mph acceleration time is 5.1 seconds, which is hot-hatch territory.
The latest infotainment system is an improvement on previous versions. Theres a central touchscreen and also a secondary screen lower down for climate and other controls . To activate the heated seats, you need to push the temperature dials.

Consumer Reports obtains its reliability data from a questionnaire that is sent to subscribers. In the questionnaire, we ask subscribers to note any problems with their cars that occurred in the past 12 months. They are asked to identify problems that they considered serious .
A typical model has about 200 to 400 samples for each model year. For some model years, typically those of older or less popular cars, we do not have a large enough sample size to provide results of statistical confidence.
There are several ways in which a savvy car buyer can still research the quality of a car.
Top Up At Your Next Stop

As the UKs public charging infrastructure continues to grow, there are now more places than ever to conveniently charge your PHEV away from home.
Charging points at many public car parks, shopping centres and motorway services make it easy to top up while youre parked up. And if youre spending a few hours in the office, workplace charging can have you fully charged by lunchtime.
The majority of destination charging points around towns and cities require the use of your own charging cable. This is included with your Land Rover PHEV as standard. And just like at home, it can be used in all weathers.

Range Rover Velar Spied Appears Ready For A Mild Facelift

The Range Rover Velar pushed the brands design language forward when it was introduced in 2017, and now the mid-sized luxury crossover is about to get a facelift.
Looking instantly recognizable, this particular prototype was recently spotted undergoing hot weather testing in southern Europe with a heavily camouflaged front fascia. While the bumper appears to carryover from the current model, that will likely change as development progresses. We can also expect updated headlights, although the disguise makes any changes virtually impossible to notice.
The modest updates should continue out back as we can expect a new rear bumper and revised taillights. While these changes may not be groundbreaking, they should help to keep the model fresh for a few more years.

Spy photographers couldnt get close enough to take interior pictures, so it remains unclear if the evolutionary updates will continue in the cabin. However, significant changes are possible as the model may get new switchgear and a larger infotainment system. This remains to be seen, but the current Velar has a 10-inch infotainment system as well as a lower 10-inch display that focuses on climate controls and vehicle settings.
Well likely learn more closer to the models unveiling, which is expected to occur late next year.

Charging The Range Rover Velar Plug
Charging the Range Rover Velar plug-in electric hybrid is necessary to ensure the battery in the electric motor is ready to go whenever you switch to all-electric driving mode. But today, its now easier, quicker and more convenient than ever before to do so.
You can charge up your Range Rover Velar plug-in electric hybrid from home, or at any number of the public points located around the country. Youll typically find these at fuel stations, of course, but also in other places such as public car parks supermarkets, often and shopping centres. This gives you the opportunity to pop your Velar on charge while youre out and about.
If you have a home charging unit fitted, its even easier to charge. When your driving is done for the day, simply put it on charge, leave it overnight, and it will be ready and raring to go in the morning or the next time you need it.
If you dont have a home charger available its relatively simple to get one installed. These are usually fitted close to your home, by your driveway or garage, and you may be able to get support for the cost of installation via the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme.
