The Advantages Of Electric Intelligence
Driving an electric car is not just about having the latest technology. The benefits are universal, from increased safety to the performance of the vehicle itself.
Electricity as Luxury
Quiet, calm, clean and smooth, electric vehicles represent not only the future of the automobile, but of luxury driving itself.
Refined Performance
Electric drive systems have several advantages over traditional internal combustion engines. They deliver power to the wheels instantly, with no lag time, for greater torque and acceleration.
Cutting-Edge Styling
The Mercedes-EQ lineup has a distinguished look and feel with an elegant, streamlined shape and a simple, yet sophisticated interior.
The Company Is Ramping
Mercedes-Benz Cars reports 496,400 global car sales during the second quarter of 2022, which is 16% less than a year ago. The number includes Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars .
The company explains that demand remains strong, but deliveries are constrained by semiconductor shortages and logistical bottlenecks related to COVID-19 lockdown measures .
During the period, the company delivered 65,400 plug-in cars at a minimal growth of 2% year-over-year. The good news is that all-electric car sales almost doubled to 23,500. The reason behind the low overall growth is a noticeable decrease in plug-in hybrid car sales.

- Total plug-ins: 65,400
Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales said:
Customer demand remains high. This is an honour and obligation for us. We are making every effort to fulfil customer expectations, despite the current supply restrictions. The electric ramp up is gaining traction: Sales of our fully electric vehicles increased by more than 90% in Q2 and even 134% in the first half of 2022. It shows that we offer compelling electric vehicles that our customers desire.
In the first half of the year, some 139,600 plug-in Mercedes-Benz cars were sold:
- Total plug-ins: 139,600
The German manufacturer noted that the Mercedes-Benz EQS sales reached 8,500 in the first half of the year.

When Will The 2023 Mercedes
Units will start arriving at dealerships in October with the rear-wheel drive EQS 450+ SUV starting at $105,550. Moving up to the more powerful AWD EQS 450 4Matic SUV runs $108,550 and the top-spec 580 4Matic hits $127,100. All prices include a $1,150 destination charge.
As with its sedan predecessor, the EQS SUV is a truly compelling alternative to Tesla from a brand known for quality and technological innovation. There are some downsides: It isnt quite as quick as some of its rivals, the third row is small and fast charging might be harder than with Tesla. But its hands-down the most luxurious large electric SUV on the market thus far, and a comfortable, easy-to-live-with machine.

Range Charging And Battery Life
Both EQS models feature a lithium-ion battery pack with a usable capacity of 107.8 kWh. The EPA rates the EQS450+ at 350 miles of range and the EQS580 at 340 miles. Along with the ability to charge the battery from 10 to 100 percent in approximately 11 hours and 15 minutes using a 240-volt charger, the EQS can supposedly replenish 70 percent of its batteryâfrom 10 to 80 percentÂâin about 35 minutes using a DC fast charger. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen, we observed an impressive 350 miles of range in the EQS580.
What Is The Eqb

If you hadn’t heard, Mercedes-Benz has launched Mercedes-EQ, its all-new electric vehicle family. First up was the EQS flagship sedan, and now the company is filling in the more accessible and versatile part of the range with the 2022 EQB small SUV.
Although “EQB” may come off as just a random jumble of letters, the terminology has a method: Each model begins with the EQ and then shares the same last letter as its gasoline-powered equivalent in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. Unlike the other U.S.-bound EQ models, however, the EQB is not built on a dedicated all-electric platform. The EQB is instead based on the gas-powered GLB SUV, which just happens to be our favorite in its class.
Intended to compete with the Tesla Model Y and Audi Q4 e-tron, the EQB is just what you’d expect an all-electric SUV from Mercedes-Benz to be: loaded with cutting-edge technology and adorned with premium luxe details. It also has an optional third-row seat, just like the GLB.

Mercedes To Unveil The 2023 Eqe Electric Suv On October 16
An all-electric all-rounder, the new EQE SUV will be presented at 8:00 pm CEST , in a video that alternates between dream scenes and reality. Expected to be very similar to the EQE sedan, this latest model will be a slightly smaller and more affordable counterpoint to the EQS SUV.
Mercedes says that the EQE SUV offers a highly versatile interior that it has actually already revealed. Nearly identical to its sedan counterpart, it features a hyperscreen that spans the length of the dashboard and turbine-style vents at its extremities.

It will also be offered in five curated color combinations. Mercedes previously showed off the combination of balao brown and neva grey leather, which you can see pictured above. A new trim material, meanwhile, will offer the warmth of wood with the technical coolness of aluminum, according to the automaker.
Although official photos of the exterior have not yet been shared by Mercedes, spy shots did manage to catch it without any camouflage on. A fully closed-off grille and sweptback headlights connected by an LED light bar connect its design to the rest of the EQ range.
As, effectively, an inflated version of the EQE sedan, we are expecting powertrain options to be very similar here. That should mean a 90 kWh battery pack, and a rear-mounted motor that makes 288 hp .
Its All About The Batteries
An automaker can only sell as many electric cars and vans as it can get the batteries for. Its not clear how strong the Mercedes-Benz battery supply chain and order log is. However, without enough batteries, there arent enough electric vehicles being produced for the company to be competitive on this high-BEV-demand market.
On the flip side, batteries in vehicles that have worn out their time on the road are still highly valuable. Thinking in the long term, Mercedes-Benz has established a new partnership in order to maximize the value of those old batteries. Clean energy startup Moment Energy has established a supply agreement with Mercedes-Benz Energy for second-life electric vehicle batteries. This marks the first agreement Mercedes-Benz Energy has signed with a North American second-life energy storage system provider.
Together with Moment Energy we will enable sustainable ESS-solutions for North America based on second-life batteries. We are to combine Mercedes-Benz Energys experience with Moment Energys pioneering spirit in these exciting times, said Gordon Gassmann, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Energy.

How’s The Eqb’s Interior
The EQB’s interior is clean, modern and, dare we say, trendy? Rose gold accents adorn the air vents, seats and vehicle key, signifying its place in the EQ lineup. Electric blue accents also highlight the dashboard and headlights, keeping with the theme. A sleek dual display screen sits atop the dashboard, housing both the instrument cluster and infotainment system, and multiple view options enable drivers to view what information is most important to them.
However, the EQB’s biggest party trick is something its most rivals can’t compete with: seating for up to seven people. Standard EQBs come equipped for five, but the optional third row makes room for two more. Despite the EQB’s compact dimensions, the third row comfortably fits passengers up to 5 feet, 4 inches tall, Mercedes says. Even more impressive, the EQB can accommodate up to four child safety seats, further proving that this EV is ready for family duty.
Fuel Economy And Real
According to the EPA, the most efficient EQS model is the EQS450+, which earned ratings of 97 MPGe city, 97 MPGe highway, and 97 MPGe combined. Going with the EQS580 drops the city figure to 92 MPGe city but increases the highway estimate to 99 MPGe, for a combined rating of 95 MPGe. Eq Silver Arrow Concept
The EQ Silver Arrow was unveiled at the IAA in Frankfurt in 2019, intended as a futuristic electric racing vehicle concept with an intended top speed of over 400 km/h . It features a unique body style reminiscent of the 1950s and 1960s era Mercedes sports coupes and features a single center seat with a front visor for the driver. It also features a front fender LED panel that displays motion lighting.
Cost To Drivecost To Drive Estimates For The 2022 Mercedes

Headlining the list is the EQS’ massive single glass dashboard panel that runs from door to door. Dubbed the Hyperscreen, it houses the instrument panel, central infotainment touchscreen and an optional third touchscreen for the front passenger. We’re usually not fans of having all of the controls placed in the central touchscreen, but this latest iteration of Mercedes’ praiseworthy MBUX infotainment system features large virtual buttons and logical menus for easy operation.
Mercedes is offering two versions of the EQS to start, with a third debuting later in the model year. There’s the 450+, which has a single electric motor and rear-wheel drive, and the 580 4Matic, which has an additional motor and all-wheel drive. Topping the lineup is the AMG EQS, which boosts output of those motors to truly staggering levels. Range on a full charge is excellent. The EPA estimates the base EQS 450+ has 350 miles of range, and we easily exceeded that by going 422 miles on a single charge in Edmunds’ real-world range test.
Mercedes has been noticeably absent from the push for electric vehicles, taking a long time to offer a fully electric vehicle to compete with the Tesla Model S, Porsche Taycan, Lucid Air, Audi e-tron GT and more. But what a debut it is. Check out our test team’s Expert Rating for a full report of the EQS’ performance, interior quality and more.

While this digitized dashboard looks futuristic, the EQS does come standard with a more traditional dashboard. Thanks to a completely flat floor as well as a lengthy 126.4-inch wheelbase, the EQS has a spacious interior. Cargo space is also especially generous, thanks to its large hatchback.

Is The Mercedes Eqs A Good Car
Weve seen plenty of sporty, expensive electric cars already the likes of Teslas Model S, the Porsche Taycan, and the Audi e-tron GT to name a few but the Mercedes-Benz EQS is the first properly luxurious electric car weve experienced. It combines exceptional cabin quality and comfort with the sort of utterly silent running you expect from an electric car.
If looks matter to you, then the EQS is pretty striking in its appearance. Unlike the new S-Class which has a traditional three-box saloon shape the EQS is almost arch-shaped, the roof running in one continuous line from the front wheels to the rears, and theres almost no bonnet.
Its also a hatchback, which makes it a little more versatile than the saloon-only S-Class, and its packed to the brim with impressive, cutting-edge technology. In many ways, its almost like a science experiment on wheels albeit an incredibly luxurious one.
Not only do you get a massive battery, which gives the EQS a potential range of 453 miles, you also get the Hyperscreen. This is the idea of a touchscreen pushed to its limits a full-width screen that stretches from one side of the dashboard to the other. The rest of the interior is super plush, too its all soft upholstery and swish metallic surfaces in here.
Thats not all, as you also get rear wheel steering, and a suspension system that not only watches the road ahead for bumps, but actually remembers where they are for later.
What’s Powering The Eqb
The EQB comes with standard dual-motor all-wheel drive, with one motor at each axle. Two models will be available: the EQB 300 4Matic, which offers 225 horsepower, and the EQB 350 4Matic, delivering 288 hp.
The initial EQB will feed these motors with a 66.5-kWh battery pack. Fully charge that battery and Mercedes says the EQB should be able to go 260 miles. This estimate is based on the WLTP European testing procedure, so it’s not directly comparable to EPA range estimates . Also, we’ve found that real-world range can vary considerably in Edmunds’ EV range test. But as a generalized takeaway, it would seem that the EQB will have competitive range for this growing class of small luxury EVs. Mercedes also says there will be a longer-range battery due to arrive for later models.
Charging times average 31 minutes for a 10%-80% charge when using a DC fast charger, according to Mercedes. When using a high-powered 240-volt home charging station, charging from 10% to 100% can take as long as 11 hours and 15 minutes.
One year of Mercedes me Charge is also included, opening up a network of 60,000 public charging stations to EQB owners. Regardless of the station’s provider, EQB owners can charge on the go conveniently with a simplified, integrated billing system. You choose your payment method once, and it will be honored across all stations.
