Thinking Of Going Electric Don’t Do Anything Until You’ve Seen Which Models Are Arriving In The Next Few Months And Years
Under current Government plans, all new cars will have to be electrified from 2030, but sales of such models are already booming.
Indeed, plug-in hybrid and fully electric cars have accounted for 20% of all new car sales so far this year, with registrations of fully electric models up 50% compared with the same period in 2021.
Tax incentives and the high price of petrol and diesel have no doubt contributed to their popularity, but it also helps that electric cars have come on massively where previously they had quite limited ranges that made them unsuitable for long journeys, that’s no longer the case. In fact, the best are now fantastic all-rounders and standards are continuing to improve.
If you’re thinking of going green, then, you’ll want to know which electric models are on the horizon, which is why in this slideshow story, we’ll take you through what’s coming and when.

Top 10 Best Small Electric Cars 2022
If an electric car ought to excel anywhere, its in the supermini segment. Typically used for shorter journeys or as a second car, these machines aren’t as reliant on a long legged range as larger models, while the combination of compact dimensions, silent running and zero emissions at the tailpipe makes them perfect inner city assault vehicles.
Admittedly, a small platform means less space for batteries, so the range of the following cars will never match the potential of larger alternatives. But a small battery also means a lower asking price, especially important now the Government has completely scrapped its Plug-in Car Grant and if were talking about urban runabouts that do only the occasional longer journey, its debatable just how many owners would need more than, say, 180 miles of driving range.
Vinfast Vf 8 And Vf 9

Theres a new electric vehicle company in town: VinFast. Its home base is in Vietnam, and it plans to invest $4 billion in a manufacturing plant in North Carolina. The automaker showed two SUVs at the 2022 New York auto show, the VF 8 and VF 9. Both the VF 8 and the VF 9 feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The Eco version has 348 hp, and the Plus trim has 402 hp. Standard and long-range batteries are available in either model. VinFast says the VF 8 Eco with the standard battery has a 260-mile estimated driving range and a 5.8-second 0-to-60-mph time, while models equipped with the extended-range battery have an estimated 292-mile range and a 5.3-second 0-to-60 time.
VinFast has a unique twist on pricing, with a battery subscription on top of the vehicles purchase prices, tailored to the buyers expected usage. The company explains it this way: By separating the price of the battery from the acquisition value of the automobile, VinFast takes on all the risks related to the vehicles battery and ensures a reasonable price for its products, while providing customers with peace of mind about the batterys quality during use.
A key upside to their battery approach is that VinFast provides a lifetime battery warranty covering all maintenance and repair costs, and will replace the battery free when charging capacity dips below 70 percent. This should reduce some concerns among shoppers.
Prices: VF 8: $40,700 to $48,000 VF 9: $55,500 to $61,000On sale: Late 2022

How Do Us Federal Ev Tax Credits Work In 2022
There have been discussions within the government about enacting revised U.S. federal EV tax credits but no bill has passed yet, so the current program remains in effect. The program applies to EV, PHEV , and some alternative-energy vehicles. We are focusing on just EVs here, and they all pretty much qualify for the full $7500 tax credits due to their battery size, except for Tesla and GM. Those companies have already exceeded the 200,000-unit sales threshold for EVs as a company, and so no tax credit for their electric vehiclesâunless a possible new bill changes the rules. Ford, Nissan, and Toyota are expected to be next in line to reach that threshold in 2022 or 2023. The U.S. Department of Energy maintains a list of qualifying vehicles. Do note that some new or upcoming EVs have not been added to the list yet, and there are further details on requirements at the bottom of the page linked above.
As for how the credits apply to your purchase, first, it has to be a new car sale . For leasing, the credit goes to the leasing company, not to you and is regardless of your tax liability. However, they can chooseâbut are not requiredâto apply the credit to reduce your lease payment, and some lease deals might already have that factored in.

Are Electric Cars Cheaper To Insure
No. In actual fact, theyre usually a little bit more expensive to insure than a comparable petrol or diesel car. There are a couple of reasons for this, the most influential being the cost of repair. Electric cars have fewer moving parts than conventional cars, meaning theres less to go wrong, but some of the components they do have the lithium-ion batteries being case-in-point are enormously expensive to repair or replace if they do become damaged. Another factor thats not often talked about is the availability of technicians qualified to work on electric cars, as these are far lower in number than those who can repair regular cars, which also pushes costs up.Its worth bearing in mind that there are companies that specialise in providing insurance for electric cars, and going with one of these could drop your premiums significantly. Even with these providers, though, its essential you shop around for the best deal. Whats more, all the usual tricks for dropping your premiums still apply with electric cars. Consider paying up front rather than monthly, or getting a black box or dashcam fitted. But the fact remains that while electric cars do reduce daily running costs in most areas, insurance isnt one of them, sadly.Read more on electric car insurance here.

The IEA said both EVs and lighting where more than 50% of the worldwide market is now using LED tech were “fully on track for their 2030 milestones” in its net-zero by 2050 scenario.
Despite the outlook for EVs, the IEA separately noted that they were “not yet a global phenomenon. Sales in developing and emerging countries have been slow due to higher purchase costs and a lack of charging infrastructure availability.”
Overall, the rest of the picture is a more challenging one. The IEA noted that 23 areas were “not on track” with a further 30 deemed as needing more effort.
“Areas not on track include improving the energy efficiency of building designs, developing clean and efficient district heating, phasing out coal-fired power generation, eliminating methane flaring, shifting aviation and shipping to cleaner fuels, and making cement, chemical and steel production cleaner,” the IEA said.
The shadow of 2015’s Paris Agreement looms large over the IEA’s report. Described by the United Nations as a “legally binding international treaty on climate change,” the accord aims to “limit global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels.”
Cutting human-made carbon dioxide emissions to net-zero by 2050 is seen as crucial when it comes to meeting the 1.5 degrees Celsius target.

Lg Oled C1 4k Smart Tv: $1650
The 65-inch LG OLED TV from the C1 series is discounted a whopping $650 during Walmart’s Black Friday sale.
Unlike LED and QLED TVs, OLED TVs don’t have a backlight layer. Instead, each pixel is its own teeny-tiny LED light that can independently adjust luminosity and even turn off completely. Because each pixel functions independently, the TV offers elite image quality — and the darkest shadows. OLED televisions also tend to be ultra thin. This particular LG set measures just 1.8 inches thick. It features 4K upscaling, plus built-in Google Assistant and Alexa.

How Did We Choose These Affordable Evs
After writing about the changed considerations for the EV tax credit and looking at the manufacturers on that list, I decided to target both affordability and eligibility for the credit. I looked at different types of vehicles, including sedans and trucks, and in the honorable mentions at the end of this article, I even highlight a plug-in hybrid minivan that qualifies for the credit — the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV. I wanted to ensure that the vehicles on this best list met the standards set by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and that they had quality features at an affordable price point.

Are Electric Cars Environmentally Friendly

Electric cars have zero exhaust emissions so they dont cause the localised NOx and particulate emissions that have a damaging effect on air quality in urban areas. However, the overall environmental credentials of an electric car depend greatly on the source of the electricity used to charge it. As the energy mix of the National Grid moves towards renewable sources like solar, wind and tidal power and away from fossil fuels, electric cars get greener. Green NCAP has published whole life emissions estimates for various cars with small electric vehicles performing better than any ICE cars.
