How Much Can You Save Buying A Used Tesla

The Tesla hatchback is going to start the new chapter for the automaker assuming it ever manages to make it off the design room floor. Rather than offering ultra-premium cars that cost more than a year’s salary, Tesla announced it was getting into the growing low-cost EV market with a car purportedly costing just $25,000.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about this car, including when it’s actually going to arrive. Despite initial promises of a 2023 launch, it looks like we won’t be getting this car then with Tesla focusing on the Cybertruck and ` instead. But we do have some idea of what to expect should this car ever hit the road.
Here’s everything we know about the Tesla hatchback so far.
Official Tesla Model 3 Configurations And Pricing
Today, the cheapest Model 3 on Teslas website starts at $37,990. Well-qualified buyers can lease it for $349 per month with $4,500 due at signing. Its the single-motor rear-wheel-drive Standard Range Plus version with 263 miles of range, Teslas Partial Premium Interior, and Autopilot. This price gets you Pearl White Multi-Coat paint, black upholstery, and 18-inch Aero Wheels.
Tesla offers four other paint colors: Solid Black, Midnight Silver Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, and Red Multi-Coat. The first three colors cost an additional $1,000, but a red Model 3 will cost you an extra $2,000.
If you want white upholstery, its a $1,000 premium. Teslas 19-inch Sport Wheels are a $1,500 upgrade. Tesla also offers Full Self-Driving Capability for $10,000, though the technology doesnt actually provide full self-driving capability. Instead, its a suite of Advanced Driver-Assist Systems that can be updated through Teslas over-the-air software updates.
Ordering a Tesla Model 3 requires a non-refundable $100 order fee. According to Tesla, you can modify your order after placing it.
According to Teslas estimate, if you order a new Model 3 today, it will be delivered in 1-13 weeks, depending on inventory of particular models.

What Is The Cheapest Tesla To Buy Used
Teslas retain their resale value surprisingly well, which means that buying last years model can be nearly as expensive as buying a new Tesla. They can even increase in price when theres a lot of demand and long wait times, which is why a used Model 3 isnt necessarily the cheapest used Tesla you can buy.
A used Model Y, on the other hand, depreciates at a predictable rate, so you can get last years model for a little below the $58,990 sticker price.
Since the Model Y was first released in 2020, you wont find any early models available for less, but that means you can be confident a used model will have all of the newest safety features and performance specs.
If both the Model 3 and Model Y are still so expensive on the used market, what is the cheapest Tesla you can buy used?

Tesla is known for being a luxury automaker, with prices as high as $100,000 for some models. So what is the cheapest Tesla you can buy new? Currently, thats the Model 3, which has a base price of $44,990.

This Move Seems Geared Towards The Next
Tesla has quietly bought the Richmond Hill, Ontario battery manufacturing company Hibar Systems to use its knowledge in battery manufacturing.
Public records show that the EV manufacturer bought the battery company sometime between July and October of 2019, according to Electric Autonomy Canada.
Both Tesla and Hibar have yet to comment on the matter, but federal documents show that prior to July 2019, Tesla Canada didnt own any subsidiary companies, and now its most recent documents list Hibar as a company that it holds, reports Electric Autonomy Canada.
Hibars website is now just a simple landing page with some contact information, but according to reports, it previously said that its truly unique in its capability to provide the worlds leading manufacturers with innovative advanced automation solutions that are engineered specifically to suit their production automation requirements.
It also mentioned, how it was, well-known for its high-speed integrated battery assembly lines and filling system, plus, the website which can be found by using the Wayback Machine, mentioned the company holds some intellectual property related to battery manufacturing technology.
The cash injection was to help the Ontario company develop a form of high-speed lithium-ion battery manufacturing process.
Since then, the company has flown under the radar until the reported acquisition from Tesla.

In 2021, Tesla became the first car manufacturer to sell 2 million electric cars, according to Inside EVs. According to Electrek, Tesla vehicles accounted for 79% of new electric vehicles registered in the United States in 2020.
Thats not to say Tesla doesnt have competition. According to CNBC, Volkswagens chief executive has stated his intention to overtake Tesla in vehicle sales by 2025.
Bloomberg Intelligence suggests Volkswagen, which already leads in Europe, could overtake Tesla as early as 2024.
Tesla Hatchback: What Will It Be Called
Tesla hasnt announced what its new hatchback will be called, and some outlets have taken to calling it the Model 2 presumably because its smaller and cheaper than Teslas current entry-level car the Model 3.
However Elon Musk has already refuted that particular point, killing any chance that the car would be called the Model 2. Not that it was particularly likely, should Tesla stick with the naming conventions of its previous cars. After, all Elon Musk deliberately named the Model S through Y because the letters spelled out the word Sexy.
Or Tesla would have done if Ford didnt own the rights to the name Model E, which forced Tesla to substitute the number 3 instead.
But where can Elon Musks pretty childish Tesla naming trend go from here? Sexy is a complete word by itself, and it means the Hatchbacks letter would have to start spelling a brand new word.
Thats assuming Tesla even opts for one, and doesnt follow the example of the Tesla Roadster and give the hatchback a more ordinary name. Though Tesla Hatchback doesnt quite have the same ring to it as Model H.

How Much Does A Tesla Model Y Cost
The 2022 base price of a new Tesla Model Y ranges in cost from $65,990 $69,990. This price range does not include state or local incentives, tax, and potential options.
In terms of the new vehicles available at specific price points, the Long Range AWD Model Y costs $65,990, and the Model Y Performance AWD costs $69,990. Options such as upgraded paint colors and Autopilot software like Full Self-Driving can add to the total cost as well.
Used Model Y prices in 2021 range from $40,000 $69,000 depending upon mileage, condition, and other options. Because the Model Y is relatively new, the used market isnt as saturated as the Model S, for example, which limits the options that buyers have and keeps prices a bit higher.
Prices For 2022 Model X
Youd think that with the sportiness of the Model S Plaid, it would be the most expensive Tesla model, and for a portion of time it was. However, 2022 bought about a Plaid version of the Tesla Model X, and its prices are the automakers highest yet.
You get what you pay for, as they say, and the Model X has the most to offer drivers in terms of space and performance, but for a price. Like its veteran sedan counterpart, the Model X currently comes in two trims.
The Dual Motor Model X starts at an MSRP of $120,990 minimum up $6,000 compared to out last pricing update in June 2022. From there, it vaults up to $152,490 with added bonuses like 22 Turbine wheels, cream interior, and a $6,500 up-charge for a six seat interior that includes captains chairs. If youd rather have the seven-seat row, it costs $3,000 less.
The Model X refresh brought a Plaid version to the lineup to replace the Performance trim. Plaid starts at $138,990 and caps out at $163,990, including all the most expensive add-ons. Note that the Model X Plaid only comes in the six seat option.
Currently, customers who order their Model X Plaid today are not scheduled to receive their EV until fall. Even worse, Dual Motor purchasers are looking at a delivery window between March and June of 2023. If youd rather not wait, it might be worth considering a pre-owned Model X, theyre out there.
