What Is The Government Plug
You can get a discount on the price of brand new low-emission vehicles through a grant the government gives to vehicle dealerships and manufacturers. This is called the Plug-in Car Grant.
You do not need to ask your dealer about the grant nor do you have to apply for it the dealer will include the value of the grant in the vehicles price.
The grant means you can get up to a maximum of £2,500 off the price of an electric car for EVs priced under £35,000. This grant was £3,000 for vehicles under £50,000 but was changed in March 2021 when the government announced it wanted to target less expensive models and allow the schemes funding to go further.

For many people, this is the only affordable electric car. It definitely isn’t, but it’s still an obvious choice given Tesla’s clear advantages in terms of electric battery range, current availability and its expansive Supercharger network. Even the most basic “Standard Range Plus” Model 3 is rated to go farther on a charge than the base models of the other electric cars in these first two price brackets, while pricier Long Range and Performance models go even farther. Acceleration is also exceptional, and although there’s definitely more to a car’s performance credentials than a single 0-60-mph run yielding a low number, the Model 3’s squatty stance, low center of gravity and well-tuned suspension result in capable handling on curvaceous roads. It’s not a sport sedan, but it doesn’t need to be. Now, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Model 3’s suspect build quality and reliability, and the questionable functionality of everything in the car being controlled and displayed by one touchscreen. And while “Autopilot” is an impressive advanced adaptive cruise control system with automated steering and lane changes, it’s still just that. The driver must still be prepared to take over as is the case with other such systems. And no, it cannot fully drive itself no matter what option box you select.

Although it just barely gets under our $35,000 threshold, among the cheapest electric cars, the Kona Electric is the one the tries a little harder on the style front and makes sure you’re having a decently fun time behind the wheel. Sure, it still looks a little weird , but when you’re competing with a Nissan Leaf, the bar is set at an easily cleared height. Like the Chevrolet Bolt EV , the Kona Electric has a range of 258 miles, which is better than many of the priciest offerings listed below. Unlike the Bolt EV, it’s eligible for the federal tax credit, so it’s effectively cheaper than its price tag would indicate. We really like the regular Kona, so choosing the Electric would similarly elicit our thumbs up.

Read Our Polestar 2 Review
Polestar is an offshoot brand from Volvo that specializes in sport-tuned electric cars. The Polestar 2 is its first fully electric model , a unique four-door notchback sedan with extra ground clearance. And thanks to its new single-motor drivetrain option and less expensive base model, it now slides down a price category to compete with the others here. Its standard range is also now on par with the similarly priced base Tesla Model 3. What really stands out about the Polestar 2, though, is that it’s a joy to drive. With the Performance package selected, it could certainly hold its own against the impressively sporty Jaguar I-Pace electric and maybe a base Taycan. And although that base, single-motor front-wheel-drive version is slower and offers less grip, it still handles well. Every Polestar 2 also benefits from minimalist Scandinavian design inside and Google’s Android Automotive Operating System that’s refreshingly quick to learn and easy to use. We do wish the cabin quality was at least up to the standard of Volvo’s cars and SUVs, though.

Best Electric Suvs Of 202: Top 5 Models Most Recommended By Expert Websites
The electric vehicle market grows bigger by the year, with auto makers working to create the best new models for all vehicle types from sedans to SUVs to pickups. Most experts agree that electric vehicles are a greener option than their counterparts of the past, but EVs still have a few selling points to secure before going completely mainstream.
While older generations are still cautious to switch over to electric vehicles, a recent study found that four in five of younger drivers believe electric cars are the future and 72 percent between 18 and 40 would consider purchasing one. And with young adults finding electric SUVs more attractive as they move towards family life, its even more important that they choose the best one for not just them, but their young children too.
Respondents in the above mentioned survey admit that EVs have a higher bar to meet before they consider getting one. That higher bar includes features like a longer range , the same affordability as a gas-powered vehicle , and improved safety . Other research suggests consumers arent solely focused on the green aspect either, with 55 percent choosing to buy an electric vehicle for reasons other than the environmental benefits.
For our findings, we visited 10 of the leading vehicle websites to find the best electric SUVs by seeing which ones experts rated the highest. Our list is ranked based on the most-recommended electric SUVs across these sites.
European New Car Market In 2022
In August 2022, new passenger vehicle registrations in the European Union, EFTA, and UK increased by 3.5% the first increase in car sales in Europe in 13 months. According to JATO Dynamics data for 27 European markets, volume increased by 3.5% when compared with to 739,037 units. However, in August 2021, sales of 710,000 were down almost a fifth compared to August 2020 when 870,000 cars were sold. In August 2019, just over a million cars were sold in Europe.
Despite the European new car market finally expanding again in August, the total volume year-to-date continued to decrease, falling by 12% to 7,143,46 units.
Of the 27 European markets, only 6 posted a decline during August, with Europes big 5 among those that saw growth during the month. Felipe Munoz, Global Analyst at JATO Dynamics, commented: The situation is still quite complex. Although the industry is slowly learning how to deal with the shortage of components and parts, consumers still face long waiting lists for new vehicles with many being forced to shift to the second-hand market.
Economic uncertainty in most countries may also lead to a decrease in actual orders, as many consumers are unable, or unwilling, to commit to large purchases or long-term contracts. A change in market sentiment will be harder for manufacturers to deal with than component scarcity.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 springs out of the gate with retro-themed styling and the latest in electric vehicle design. It’s also comfortable, practical and generously equipped. While it can’t quite match the range of the equivalent Tesla Model Y or Ford Mustang Mach-E models, there’s still plenty to love about this all-new all-electric SUV.
The 2022 Tesla Model Y Is A Leader In The Ev Revolution
First Model Y deliveries in Japan ??
The Model Y highlights everything Tesla is known for impressive performance, cutting-edge technology, and the longest battery range of any EV, all wrapped up in sleek styling. Consider all of this, and its no surprise the EV SUV made TrueCars list of the best electric vehicles.
Unfortunately, thats also underscored by everything Teslas critics love to point out. Build quality can be hit, or miss, and service can be slow and indifferent. The other negative is the tiny third row, which is barely inhabitable for pets or small children. But those quibbles fall by the wayside thanks to the performance, range, and array of technology offered by the Model Y.

The 2021 Polestar 2 Is One Of The Best Electric Vehicles
Polestar used to be Volvos in-house performance tuner but is now a separate entity within the Geely Auto portfolio. Its a well-equipped, elegant-looking hatchback sedan. Performance is fierce with quick acceleration and excellent handling.
It doesnt have quite the same level of luxury as the Audi e-tron, but at $61,200, its less expensive but still well equipped with high-tech safety and infotainment features.
Like most EVs, the heavy mass affects handling, but the Polestar matches up well with vehicles such as the Tesla Model 3. The interior is on the tight side, with a small backseat. But, overall, its classy and well-designed. Range, however, is estimated at 233 miles, which is lower than other models on this list, but about average for a performance-oriented EV.
The 2022 Kia Ev6 Holds Its Own Against Competitors
Kia hit a home run with the EV6, the companys first true electric vehicle. It more than holds its own against other popular EVs. Not to mention, it features all-wheel drive and, according to TrueCar, is is estimated to deliver 116 MPGe in the city and 94 MPGe on the highway.
The 2022 Kia EV6 is offered in 3 trim levels, including the most popular Wind AWD trim, which starts at $52,695. The interior room is adequate for five people, but tall drivers will wish for more headroom, TrueCar predicts. Cargo room is also on the small side, so people who need lots of space might want to look at another EV on this list. However, the EV6 presents itself well as a fun, capable crossover that just happens to be an EV.

It Seems With Each New Month Nearly Every Automaker Is Raising Interest Rates Monthly Lease Payments And Down Payments
The best time to buy or lease a new car typically falls at the end of the month, the end of the quarter, the end of the year, and on holidays. However, some folks are calling 2022 the year of electric cars, and competition is mounting. Will this mean better deals in 2022? Or, will some dealers continue taking advantage of price gouging?
While some brands haven’t yet published their manufacturer-sponsored leasing and financing offers this month, we like to get this article out as soon as deals begin to publish. It’s our hope that you can use this article to get a basic idea of manufacturer-sponsored offers. However, you may be able to work out a better deal with your local dealer. At the same time, you could pay much more than the advertised incentives suggest.
That said, we will tell you upfront that the deals thus far this month are proving to be less appealing than July’s deals, as interest rates, monthly lease payments, and down payments continue to rise. In addition, it seems there are far fewer offers available on some vehicles, as well as fewer compelling deals as a whole.
Nonetheless, some electric vehicles are available with relatively appealing lease deals, small discounts, and/or reasonable financing rates. Some cars are available with a combination of these offers. Not all deals are equally appealing, but we’ve included them for comparison, and we’ll be working to add more throughout the coming days.
